Hi - my name is Hazel. Colours and shapes have fascinated me since childhood and I painted at every opportunity that arose. Moving from the UK to Australia, raising a family and working full time put painting and drawing on the back burner until I was introduced to Folk Art and Decorative Painting in 1997. After learning as much as I could from local and international teachers I began teaching Folk and Decorative Art in 2001.

I live on two and a half acres in Langwarrin with my husband Dean and our cat “Sox”. I love the peace and quiet and often sit on the veranda watching the birds that stop for a bath not to mention the baby kookaburras that stop for a daily feed.

I teach from my home studio, a local community centre and also travel teach both locally and internationally. I taught at the American Society of Decorative Painters Conference in Tampa, Florida in May 2005 and afterwards in the United Kingdom. In 2006 I taught in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

I have been published in the Folk Art and Decorative Painting Magazine as well as Handmade Magazine.

I am a member of The Society of Folk and Decorative Artists of Victoria Inc. and the American Society of Decorative Painters.

I have met many wonderful people in my teaching and travels who all love painting in some form or other. My regular students keep me on my toes and always ask challenging questions and keep me provided with inspiration.
